Comfort Company is happy to announce our new Clinical Education Manager for the Rehab Division, Lindsey Sharpe PT, DPT. Here are some words from Lindsey:
I can honestly say that three months ago I never thought I would be sitting here writing about my new role as Clinical Education Manager–Rehab Division with Comfort Company. My name is Lindsey Sharpe, and I am a physical therapist who has focused on neurological diagnoses and interventions as well as specialized in wheelchair seating and mobility. Four years ago, when I was opening a brand-new seating clinic in North Carolina, I met my local Comfort Company territory manager. Comfort Company became an integral part of the growth and development of my clinic and was an invaluable resource to me, always willing to objectively share knowledge as well as provide me with much needed demo equipment! I have always loved Comfort Company products because of the quality of product, the excellent customer service, and the always-evident focus on what is best for the end user. I never imagined I would one day have opportunity to work for them!
I always envisioned myself teaching at a university Physical Therapy program when my body was worn and I could no longer perform the heavy lifting the hospital and clinic often require. I knew I loved educating my students and peers, but I also knew my heart did not lie in a research lab, which is often a requirement as a professor at a university. Rather, my heart was and is for the clinical application of teaching. My passion is teaching others how to actually implement the knowledge I have gained in my years as a clinician in order to improve the lives of our patients.
As I tried to figure out the next steps in my career, I stumbled upon this position that combined my heart for teaching with my love for wheelchair seating and positioning and the clinical application of these principles. So, now, here I am! As Clinical Education Manager, I not only have the opportunity to impact the lives of those who utilize our products, I also get to be a resource to YOU. I get to play a role in educating my peers directly at conferences and indirectly via blog posts, webinars, and various educational materials regarding the importance of wheelchair seating and positioning and how it can change lives for the better. This is truly a dream job, combining all my passions into one position.
I could not be more excited to be a part of this amazing Comfort Company team. Their passion to be a RESOURCE to both the end user and the team of professionals who facilitate the independence of the end user is contagious. And now I get to be a RESOURCE to our community, and, most importantly, I get to be a part of providing quality of life to the end user. I look forward to this new role, and I cannot wait to see where we, together, take this! Please feel free to reach out to me at ANY time via email at [email protected], and I hope to see you at a course in the future! Here we go…
